Germany: Entry Requirements

Passport and Visa Requirements

Check IATA Travel Website for visa requirements and health advices.

Taxation On Persons: None
Tobacco: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco.
Import from EU countries: 800 cigarettes, 400 cigarillos, 200 cigars, 1 kg of tobacco.
Alcohol: 1 liter of alcohol (+22%) or 2 liters of sparkling wine, 2 liters of wine.
Import from EU countries: 10 liters of alcohol (+22%), 20 liters of alcoholic beverages, 90 liters of wine, 110 liters of beer.
Perfume: 50 grams of perfume, 250 ml of cologne.
Foreign Currency: No restrictions.
Obligatory Declaration of Foreign Currency: Above 10 000 EUR or equivalent.
Local Currency: No restrictions.
Obligatory Declaration of Local Currency: Above 10 000 EUR or equivalent.
How to Refund Consumption Tax: When you go through Customs, present your VAT refund documents. For further information, consult the European Commission website.

Obligatory Vaccination and Other Recommendations: It is recommended that everyone 16 years of age and older should get fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before travel and present, if necessary, evidence of COVID-19 vaccination at the border. The updated information on all health entry requirements as well as on routine and recommended vaccines for Germany are provided on the dedicated pages on TravelHealthPro and CDC websites.
While there are no official requirements for vaccination, the following are strongly recommended: tetanus, hepatitis A and B, measles, chickenpox, diphtheria, influenza, polio, rabies and tick-borne encephalitis.

Crime: Keep an eye on your personal belongings in restaurants and on public transport. In large cities, avoid the areas around railway stations at night.
Terrorist Risk: The British Foreign Office ranks the risk of terrorism in Germany as 'high'. There is a reinforced police presence outside embassies and in airports.
Risk of Natural Disaster: Not very high. However, there are risks of flooding in the spring.
